DTI to conduct PQA and PQC Roadshow in Bacolod City; Urges firms to join to become globally-competitive
The Department of Trade and Industry-Competitiveness Bureau will conduct its Negros Island leg of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) and Philippine Quality Challenge (PQC) Roadshow this July 12, Tuesday at Sugarland Hotel, Bacolod City, as it invites local businesses to join and transform their organizations into globally-competitive enterprises.
PQA is the highest level of recognition given to organizations, which sets a global standard to help local businesses achieve world-class performance excellence. It is the Philippine counterpart of the US Baldrige National Quality Award and other National Quality Awards worldwide.
PQC meanwhile is the simplified PQA criteria targeted to those interested to start their journey towards organizational improvement. Both PQA and PQC serve as template for competitiveness based on the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM).
Competitiveness Bureau Executive Director Virgilio Fulgencio encouraged companies to participate in the PQA and PQC to be able to transform into globally-competitive businesses by applying the PQA framework in the improvement of their organizations.
“By joining the PQA and PQC, your companies do not only reap the prestige that goes with the award, but also benefit from significant improvements in several areas of your organization.” Fulgencio said.
“The ASEAN economic integration has opened vast opportunities for the Philippine firms, now that we have a much larger single market base of about 622 million people. Along with this is the challenge for our local businesses, as they do not only compete with Filipino companies, but also with other ASEAN firms. PQA and PQC provide our local companies the advantage to stand out and prepare them to become globally-competitive.” Fulgencio added.
During the event, winners of the PQA and PQC will share their best practices and testimonials on their journey towards organizational excellence. Dr. Ronald Raymond Sebastian, CEO of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Recipient, 2009 PQA Commitment to Quality Management) , and Ms. Miguelita S. Baron, President of Manila Catering Services (2012 PQC 1 Awardee) will share their experience during their application process and the successful outcomes of applying the PQA and PQC in their businesses.
DTI, as the award manager of PQA and PQC, is inviting companies from various sectors, including the manufacturers, academe, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and government agencies.
