Don Bosco Technical College

Don Bosco Technical College stands on 3.5-hectare lot at 736 General Kalentong Street, Mandaluyong City, historic and hallowed grounds. The 18th century Spanish building (1716) at the heart of the campus is a testimony to events that led to the 1896 uprising of the country’s patriots, the Katipuneros, against the Spanish colonizer.

St. John Bosco, the 19th century priest who founded the Salesians during Italy’s industrial revolution, stands out in the history of the Church as the “Father and Teacher of Youth” who has able to inspire youth in their teens and twenties to become saints. The Profile of the Ideal Salesian Education presents an explicit understanding of the distinctive nature of a Don Bosco education. There are many ways in which Don Bosco schools and training centers resemble other kinds of Catholic education. But this profile emphasizes the essential characteristics and basic options of Salesian education. It is not borne out of an elitist complex, but is simply a logical consequence of the fact that Don Bosco schools and training centers live and operate within a particular charism in the Church.Salesian education offers the Preventive System, “based entirely on reason, religion and loving kindness,” as its main original contribution to the cause of education. The Salesians of Don Bosco, as guarantors of the Salesian ethos of the school and training center (GC 24, 27), are committed to the reformulation of the preventive system as an ongoing task in the light of the youth condition and culture of the present day.

Our core competency is “technology with a soul’’, technical education with spiritual formation. The students, through the Salesian Youth Movement and the Volunteer Movement, commit themselves in various ways to animation for the benefit of their peers. Salesian education forms the youth as servant-leaders, creating an environment for them to be empowered and to be responsible for themselves and others. There are Student Professional Organizations, Students Religious/Pastoral Organizations, Students Socio-Cultural / Interest-Oriented Organizations that enhance the development of a character of a servant-leader.

The students, through the technical curriculum, acquire relevant skills, develop the requisite discipline and responsibility, become self-reliant, and increase their employability and productivity. Don Bosco schools are equated with state-of-the-art quality technical education. The commitment of Don Bosco to technical education makes the Salesian schools a very relevant partner in the education of the Philippine youth. For the last fifty years, Don Bosco schools in this country have been teaching the Filipino youth skills in mechanics, electronics, automotive, industrial drafting welding, wood-work and others, particularly through the training centers. In addition, Don Bosco offers courses in Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer and Electrical technology; construction, furniture-making and agro-mechanics; as well as college courses in Engineering.Salesian education offers the Preventive System, “based entirely on reason, religion and loving kindness,” as its main original contribution to the cause of education. The Salesians of Don Bosco, as guarantors of the Salesian ethos of the school and training center (GC 24, 27), are committed to the reformulation of the preventive system as an ongoing task in the light of the youth condition and culture of the present day

In Don Bosco schools, the development of moral and Christian values goes hand in hand withtraining in the manual and technical skills. Religion will teach the young how to live and their technical education will teach them how to earn their dailybread.
